Horticultural Services of North Florida was founded in January 2006 by Gene Crawford. Operating out of beautiful Crawfordville, Florida, HSNF serves both residential and commercial clients throughout the Florida Panhandle. We are a growing, full service landscape and irrigation contracting firm seeking to establish and maintain long lasting, quality oriented relationships with every customer.

Our firm carries complete Commercial General Liabilty Insurance coverage and all employees are covered by Workers Compensation Insurance. Our staff boasts an ISA Certified Arborist, 3 Florida Certified Horticultural Professionals and a Florida Certified Landscape Contractor. Our staff are active members of The International Society of Arboriculture, The Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association and The Florida Urban Forestry Counsil.

MEET OUR STAFF

Gene Crawford, Jr.

Gene is the founder and owner of Horticultural Services of North Florida and has lived in the area for 35 years. He has 20 years of professional experience in the Florida Green Industry, working in both the public and private sector. He is an ISA Certified Arborist, a Florida Certified Landscape Contractor and Florida Certified Horticulture Professional. Gene is dedicated to growing Horticultural Services of North Florida into one of the premier landscape contracting firms in the state of Florida.  

Matt Chason

Matt is our Landscape Foreman and has worked with Gene for 3 years. He has over 7 years of experience in The Florida Green Industry, working for a local landscape maintenance company and in the public sector as a Horticultural Technician. Matt was born in Tallahassee and graduated from Lincoln High School. He is a Florida Certified Horticulture Professional and a Forestry Application IL40S Safety Instructor. Matt also serves on a hurricane response team for the City of Tallahassee and is currently preparing to sit for The ISA Certified Arborist exam.

Zac Beane

Zac is our Equipment Specialist and another North Florida native who has worked in a variety of areas throughout the Florida Green Industry. Zac began his career as a small-engine mechanic at a local landscape company and quickly rose through the ranks. He spent time at a major Tallahssee golf course as a Greenskeeper and Irrigation Technician and as a Horticultural Technician in local government.  Zac is an outstanding equipment operator and a Florida Certified Horticutural Professional. He is currently preparing to sit for the State of Florida Limited Commercial Pest Control Applicators exam.

Johnny Gruener

Johnny is our Landscape Technician. He graduated from Pine Castle Christian Acadamy in Orlando, Florida before relocating to Tallahassee in the mid '90s. Johnny has a variety of work experience including 4 years in the commercial and residential construction trade as a job site superintendant. He's also spent over 3 years in The Green Industry as a Horticulturalist in local government and is a licenced State of Florida, Limited Commercial Pest Control Applicator.  

Daphne Gilbert 

Daphne is our Office Manager and is a life-long resident of Wakulla County.  She is a full-time Legal Administrative Assistant at a major Florida law firm and manages a variety of administrative functions for Horticultural Services of North Florida.
